Rahul Singh in ‘Jail’

Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Jail‘ released this Friday wherein upcoming star Rahul Singh has played role of a man who commits murder in a fit of anger. Rahul had waited for a long time for this movie.

He says, “I have chased Madhur sir for a real long time. Back then he asked me to cut the hunt and wait for the right time. I never thought he would even remember me then, but when he offered me Jail, I understood that Madhur sir is indeed a man of his words!”

For the movie Rahul Singh has worked with the real convicts in the Jodhpur Jail. Sharing his experience about jail, he said, “Working in Jail has made me value my freedom. I have closely studied the real jails, and when you see those tall walls, you truly understand the meaning of freedom.”

These days Rahul is working on some big banner projects. He is working with Aamir Khan, Sudhir Mishra, Farhan Akhtar, Amole Gupte, Shyam Benegal, Manmohan Shetty, debutant director Abhishek Sharma, Karan Chaudhry and ace ad-makers Shamin Desai and Abhinay Deo. At this moment he is expecting a good response from his movie ‘Jail’, in which his co actors are Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mugdha Godse and Manoj Bajpai.

Avantika threatened

Upcoming bollywood actress Avantika Kapoor has registered a complaint with the Oshiwara police, as she is receiving threats on her mobile asking her to withdraw from her latest movie ‘Mahi Mahi’. ‘Mahi Mahi’ is her first bollywood film and therefore she is nervous to come in the limelight for controversial reasons.

Confirming the case, APC Dilip Suryavanshi said, “A non-cognizable case has been lodged against an unidentified person for threatening her with dire consequences if she continues to work in Mahi Mahi, the shooting of which is now under way. She was told to withdraw from the movie in which she is playing the lead role.”

The film is directed by Faisal Saif. Avantika explaining her concern said, “When Faisal Saif offered me a lead role in this film I was very happy and excited but when he narrated me the story all my excitement evaporated. This not a routine kind of a boy meets girl type story. In fact it is the story of a love between a Shia boy and a Sunni girl. I know an old rivalry is going on between Shias and Sunnis all over the world and lot of blood has flown on the streets due to the traditional rivalry between these two sects. Until now no film has been made on the romance of a Shia boy and a Sunni girl.”

Earlier Avantika had done an ad film with Sharukh Khan.

Actress Jacqueline

Jacqueline Fernandez is feeling nervous with butterflies flying in her stomach as last Friday released her debut film ‘Aladin’. It’s a big opportunity for her as she has got a chance in a movie by Sujoy Ghosh where she has acted along with Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Riteish Deshmukh.

Jacqueline belongs to Sri Lanka where she is known to be ‘Jack of all trade and master of all’. Her life started in Bahrain and she went to Australia for higher studies. She has done TV anchoring, TV reporting, modeling etc but never forgot her dream of becoming an actress. She has won Miss Sri Lanka crown and represented her country at the Miss Universe contest in 2006. Then she came to India.

She is a fan of Shahid Kapoor and would love to work with him. Earlier she has done a commercial with him. Let us hope the best from her movie ‘Aladin’.

Adah performs on stage

Age of 22, the bollywood actress Adah Sharma who was first spotted in the industry in Vikram Bhatt’s horror movie ‘1920‘ will now perform on stage on November 2. The performance is to essay a tribute to Gopi Krishna at Andrews auditorium Bandra for which around 3000 special invitations has been send.

The actress is a graduate in psychology and a Kathak dancer who took her training from Gopi Krishna’s Dance Academy known as Nateshwar Bhavan. She began her training when she was just four years old under Guru Rajendra Chaturvedi who is great maestro Gopi Krishna’s disciple.

Her upcoming flick is ‘Phhir’ directed by Girish Dhamija under the banner of ASA Film Pvt Ltd. The release date is 6 November and her co-stars are Rajneesh Duggal and Roshni Chopra.

Mahie Gill’s kitty full

Mahie Gill who entered the bollywood industry with her movie ‘Dev D‘ by Anurag Kashyap in which she played role of Paro is busy these days with a lot of upcoming projects. Her movie ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ is on its way to be released in February next year.

Recalling her days she said, “It is very difficult to create a place for yourself in the industry. I struggled my way through it. By chance Anurag saw me in a party and I got Dev D; otherwise things wouldn’t have shaped this way.”

About her movie ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, Mahie said, “In this film, I am playing Paan Singh Tomar’s wife. He was an athlete who later became a dacoit. His wife is still alive. She is very old now. I am playing a woman who is very talkative and short tempered.” The movie is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, and also with this she’s got the opportunity to act alongside Irfan Khan.

In her other projects are Arbaaz Khan Productions’ ‘Dabang’ and a Saurabh Shukla’s ‘Bhaang’. She has also signed two films which will be made by Abhinav Kashyap.

Anurag’s wedding

The boy who debuted with Subhash Ghai’s movie ‘Black and White’ is now ready to become a man by tieing a knot with her long time girlfriend Mitakashra Kumar. The wedding of Anurag Sinha will take place on 19th November at Gurgaon in Delhi.

The two were each other from last 5 years. “We thought it was about time we made it official. Our parents were getting somewhat anxious. We thought we could make a nice team and probably work together”, said the actor.

Mitakashra Kumar is a writer and a filmmaker from Delhi. She says, “Neither of us is in a hurry to become successful overnight. We’ve time on our side. And if we don’t wish to do the work we don’t want to.”

After his debut he has signed only one film which is Owais Husain’s untitled venture which will be completed very soon.

Asin catching up fast

Upcoming bollywood star Asin Omanukuttan is catching up fast in the bollywood industry. With her entry in bollywood starring opposite Mr. Perfectionist- Aamir Khan for the movie ‘Ghajini’, she is almost ready with her next release ‘London Dreams’.

With the star cast of Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, ‘London Dreams’ will hit the box office with a bang and this is again a big opportunity for Asin to establish herself in the B-Town.

The recent news is that the movie will be promoting itself in a wholly new manner as never done before. They are organizing a rock concert as a promotional event in The London Excel Arena, London. It will be held on 28th October, two days prior to release.

Raghav Dar, who assisted Mani Ratnam during Guru, and also worked as the assistant director on Abbas Tyrewala’s Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, will direct the film.

The 22-year-old newcomer who’s making his debut in the Sanjay Gupta film Pankh is one daring boy. His scene that has got into trouble with the censor board is the nude scene in Pankh. He clarifies, “First of all, I would like to make it clear that one should not assume it’s a bedroom scene just because it’s a nude scene. Secondly, I knew before signing the film that there is a scene like this. I took the approval of my parents before saying yes and I’m proud of it!”

Debutant Maradona Rebello whose first film Pankh along side Bipasha Basu is not yet released, has signed another film, Anil Sharma’s Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyun, starring Zeenat Aman and Helen.

Ask him about his luck and he will say, “Maybe this is what they call Lady Luck.” In Dunno Y…, Maradona plays son of Zeenat and grandson of Helen, who wants to become a big hotelier.

Talking about his experience working with the hot and happening Bips and the evergreen Zeenat, he said, “Bipasha turned out to be down-to-earth and simple. And as for Zeenat ma’am, we hit it off from day one. Maybe, because we’re both Xavierites.”
